And Now For Something Completely Different . . .
When is a ranch house not a ranch house? When it's been carefully and beautifully made over into an Arts and Crafts jewel.
Join us on Wednesday, May 27th at 6:30 pm for the May meeting of the KCBC, to take place at the home of long-time clubmembers Mike and Sara. The event is planned as a cookout, so please bring a side dish to share with other members, as well as something to drink - Mike and Sara will provide the meat.
Mike and Sara remodeled their home with a combination of expert help and good ol' DIY expertise - Renditions of Weston was responsible for most of the upfront design work, but Mike did most of the remodeling work himself, and Sara used her Master Gardener training to make over the yard. Prior to renovating this house, our hosts lived in an 1890's era Queen Anne home, so they will give us some background about the differences between the two styles.
Their home is located at 145 Tiblow Lane, Bonner Springs, KS, 66012 - just type that address into Google or Yahoo maps for directions to the house. See you there!
It's the ladies' time to shine as the Kansas City Public Library kicks off its popular Architecture Lecture Series this June. Three prominent Kansas City architects will be featured: Nell Peters (presented by Nancy Powell) on June 7th, Mary Rockwell Hook (presented by Tom Cooke) on June 14th, and Mary Colter (presented by Susan Richards Johnson - in costume!) on June 28th. All events are free and open to the public and will take place at the library's Truman Forum Auditorium. Each event starts at 2:00 pm.
Join us for this exciting and engaging lecture series, presented by local historians and architects and featuring local architects who have enriched the Kansas City region with their works.
