Free Medical Equipment for Low-Income Residents

We all know that healthcare costs are out-of-control - a fact that hits especially hard in communities whose residents often have limited resources to devote to health care.  There is a local source whose mission is to provide free medical equipment and supplies to uninsured and underinsured people - CollaborationWorks is a Kansas City-based not-for-profit organization that obtains equipment and supplies "at-cost" and in turn provides them free of charge to qualifying residents.  More information is on their website, or you can contact Peggy Smith at 816-421-1305.

"Priorities in Progress" Gives Update Straight from the Mayor

On the heels of his "State of the City" speech and amidst one of the most contentious budget battles in Kansas City's history, Mayor Funkhouser has issued another electronic newsletter - "Priorities in Progress" - detailing his view of how the city is doing as it confronts some of the most serious issues ever to face the city - light rail, the new sewer overhaul, serious budget shortages, and more.  You can download the latest issue of the newsletter here in pdf format.
